If one is wondering what Kho Kho is all about, it is an ancient Indian sport which is also referred to as the game of the soil. To take it to the next level, Dabur India Ltd Chairman, Amit Burman and the Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) joined hands to come up with the Ultimate Kho Kho league.
It is India’s first-ever professional league for this sport which was launched with the objective to transform the sport from soil to mat. The tournament consists of India’s best Kho Kho players from all over the country who will fight for the ultimate title over a period of three weeks. It begins on 14th August with the final to be played on the 4th of September 2022.
Six teams will be taking part in this competition across 34 matches, which would be held at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Pune. Mumbai Khiladis and Gujarat Giants will play the curtain-raiser, while the second game of the day will be played between Chennai Quick Guns and Telugu Yoddhas.
Format of the League
The teams will face each other twice in the league stage of the tournament. The eliminator will be played on the 2nd of September between the 3rd and the 4th ranked teams after the end of the league stage.
Qualifier 1 will also be played on 2nd September, where the top two ranked teams in the league stage will battle it out to reach the final. Qualifier 2 will be played on 3rd September between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of eliminator 2. The final will be played on 4th September between the winner of Qualifier 1 and Qualifier 2.
