The day we have all been waiting for has finally come and we are standing at the brink of a momentous occasion. The maiden season of Ultimate Kho Kho (UKK) is all geared to kick off tonight at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge, Pune, with the aim to revolutionise the game of Kho Kho across the world. This league has come with the intention to give a platform and opportunity to all the talents of our country who are more than pumped up to put up a Kho Kho masterclass.
Here we take a look at all we can expect from the very first matchday of UKK’s inaugural season.
Match 1: Mumbai Khiladis vs Gujarat Giants
On paper, the Mumbai Khiladis look like a defence-heavy side but they have also got some good attackers to balance it out for their team. Their biggest strength will be their captain, Vijay Gajanan and vice-captain, Gajanan Maruti. The team has a healthy mix of experienced as well as young players, which is sure to give them a boost in the season to come.
On the other hand, we have Gujarat Giants, who seem to have based their strategy on having enough all-rounders on the side, so that crunch situations can be handled efficiently. The 32-year old seasoned campaigner, Ranjan Shetty has been handed over the captain’s armband for the side, and will look to lead his side by example on the mat.
All in all, it promises to be a cracker of a game!
Match 2: Chennai Quick Guns vs Telugu Yoddhas
Chennai Quick Guns is a team filled with prominent Kho Kho stars. The players to watch out for from this lineup will be Amit Patil who is an all-rounder from Railways and carries a lot of experience under his belt. Alongside him, there is Mahesh Shinde who has also been a part of the Railways squad and will look to contribute to the defensive duties with his quick pace and agility.
Telugu Yoddhas promise a good balance of youth and experience. Prajwal K.H., the 25-year-old attacker hailing from Karnataka will lead the Yoddhas and will look to set the tone for the team. He will also be assisted by Pratik Waikar who will look to prove his mettle as the vice-captain of this side.
Both sides will look to make a mark and set the pace for the season.
