Chennai Quick Guns proved to be a class apart for a struggling Mumbai Khiladis, as the former sealed a 36-31 victory at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
This win catapulted the Quick Guns to the top of the points table, while the Khiladis would stay in fifth with two points from four games.
With eight Sky Dive points and four Pole Dive points, Mumbai Khiladis administered a 15-point lead with the scoreline reading 16-1 against the Chennai Quick Guns. The one point? All thanks to a Dream Run featuring Chennai star Laxman Gawas.
Conversely, in Turn 2, Chennai Quick Guns maintained the ascendancy. Ramji Kashyap and Durvesh Salunkhe were at the forefront of the fightback as the Yellow Brigade turned the tables to take a three-point lead. Having denied Mumbai a chance to register a Dream Run, the game went into half-time with a score of 19-16 in Chennai’s favour.
Mumbai Khiladis returned to attack and managed to take a 10-point lead. But the highlight of Turn 3 was the ethereal Ramji Kashyap, who stitched a Dream Run and kept an active time of 2:26 out of the 3:14 his batch registered in the Turn. A high-octane finale was brewing.
Turn 4 was a simple case of the Quick Guns turning into Top Guns. Besides Ramji Kashyap, Sachin Bhargo engineered the comeback and ensured that Mumbai would succumb to their fourth straight defeat, by five points.
However, all is not gloom for Mumbai, as they will have the opportunity to end their winless streak against rock-bottom Rajasthan Warriors on Sunday, December 31. Meanwhile, Chennai Quick Guns have a day to recover for their matchup against Gujarat Giants on the first day of the new year.
