We have reached the final day of Ultimate Kho Kho Season 2, and to kick off the action, we have an enterprising third-place Playoff between the Odisha Juggernauts and Telugu Yoddhas.
Wait? Does this fixture sound familiar? Yes. It is a repeat of the Ultimate Kho Kho Season 1 Final. What’s the catch? This game is one last opportunity for the Juggernauts and Yoddhas to take home a consolation honour from a successful and entertaining tournament.
How do the teams fare ahead of the showdown? We briefly discuss.
Odisha Juggernauts
The Ultimate Kho Kho Season 2 hosts saw their title defence end at the hands of Gujarat Giants in the semi-final. But that doesn’t take away the promise of entertainment and a fighting spirit that the Juggernauts showed the home crowd at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack. Looking at their head-to-head record (three wins in five meetings) against Telugu Yoddhas and the second-most Dream Runs (51) in UKK Season 2, it is safe to say that the UKK Season 1 champions have the psychological advantage going into the contest.
Telugu Yoddhas
The Yoddhas are the second-best Attacking team (322) in Ultimate Kho Kho Season 2 and boast the most Wazir points (98); however, they failed to go to the Final. But as often done this season, Telugu Yoddhas have shown that they can upstage their opponents at moments when you least expect it, and the fans of UKK Season 2 will be eager to see the team give a surprise performance against hosts Odisha Juggernauts.
